Larchmere Boulevard Mural
Project
LifeSkills Building, 12201 Larchmere
Designed by Ted Kurz
Created by Building Bridges Arts Collaborative

The
community had a wonderful
Grand Opening on September 23, 2010: a celebration of Larchmere's
newest piece of
artwork, a mural that runs the length of the LifeSkills
Building. Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Councilwoman Mamie
Mitchell were on hand to congratulate the student artists who
worked over
the summer to create the mural designed by Ted Kurz.
Ted
Kurz had an architectural studio on Larchmere Boulevard for over 30
years. His mural design features a middle ribbon of colorful
watercolors of the business district taken from recent photographs and
spliced together. The top and bottom of the mural feature black and
white drawings of the residential and surrounding neighborhood,
representing the area's long and storied history. The mural peaks away
from the wall in three places, creating a depth and movement to the
overall mural design.
Over
100 neighbors
attended the opening which honored Ted Kurz and the Building Bridges
Arts
Collaborative, a nonprofit community-based arts organization that
fosters youth
development. If you haven't seen the mural, drive or walk by the
48' x 12' canvas. Click on the image above for a larger image of the
mural, as photographed by Arnie Berger.
A
new mural is currently in the proposal stages, see the details.
