Larchmere Holiday
Stroll
Friday,
November 26,
10am-8pm
Saturday,
November
27,
10am-8pm
~ Thanksgiving weekend ~
Now
in its third decade, the annual Thanksgiving weekend shopping spree on
Larchmere is back. A bevy of local businesses will welcome the holiday
season
with merriment, live music and indie shopping. This year we
encourage
Clevelanders and visiting ex-pats to flee the mall’s piped-in jingles
for the
joys of shopping local.
“We’re
continuing our holiday tradition by offering one of the best shopping
experiences anywhere in Northeast Ohio,” says Harriett Logan, owner of
Loganberry Books. “Check out some of the recent additions to Larchmere,
such as
Wolf’s Gallery and the Red Lemon boutique, then stop in at one of our
restaurants.”
Larchmere
merchants
have
invited
their
fellow
indies
at
Bazaar Bizarre back for this
year’s event. The popular craft show, which bills itself as “not your
granny’s
craft fair,” comes complete with its own avid fans. Imagine a building
filled
with jewelry, crafts, t-shirts, pottery and other cool stuff … you can
browse,
strike up conversation and lose yourself in indie heaven for a few
hours, while
you get your shopping done. Don’t miss it!
Bazaar
Bizarre will take place this year at 13010 Larchmere (the former
American
Crafts Gallery), where two dozen craftspeople will set up a two day,
pop-up
shop.
“Bazaar
Bizarre is a juried show of craftspeople and artisans,” says Shannon
Okey,
founder of Bazaar Bizarre Cleveland, the local chapter of the national
group,
which was founded in Boston in 2001. “Some vendors travel from
Pittsburgh,
Columbus and Washington D.C. for our east and west side shows [the west
side
show is 12/11-12/12]. We’re excited to partner with Larchmere merchants
again!”
Many
of the Larchmere merchants, such as the Dancing Sheep and Loganberry
Books,
will offer holiday fare such as hot cider and holiday cookies.
Loganberry Books
will also host Cleveland guitar virtuoso Brian Henke, who will perform
from 1-3
pm on Friday and Saturday. Several retail businesses, including Marc
Goodman’s
Antique Mall, Fine Points, Loganberry Books and the Dancing Sheep will
also be
open on Sunday.
Located
one block north of Shaker Square, Larchmere is home to a remarkable
collection
of art, antiques, books, clothing, crafts, furniture, gift items,
jewelry,
oriental rugs, fine restaurants, cafes and services. Recent
improvements
include gateway signage, streetscape beautification, new businesses and
public
art.
This
holiday season, Northeast Ohioans are
invited to browse the boulevard and discover the upbeat vitality and
offbeat
charm of Larchmere! |

Drinks
at
the Academy
Wednesday, January 20, 6:30 pm
~ Larchmere
Fundraiser ~
You’re
right, we’re always
fundraising for something – can’t help it! we have big dreams! – but
this is an
easy one. Just join us for a drink at Academy Tavern. A
portion of
the drink sales will go towards funding new gateway signage (our old
one, which
is so small you didn’t even know about it, did you?, is falling off its
post,
and besides, we have a new logo we want to share). It’s just a
little
thing, but we like seeing you, and we really want new signs. Oh,
but
there is one eensy-teensy catch: Kim Metheny and Sue Weir of Metheny
Weir will be tending
bar. Yeah, that’s right. Oh, and did you hear about the
remodeled
women’s bathroom? Yes, designed by Metheny Weir.
Yeah, see
ya there. |
